Suns detour Tourists

July 21, 2009

A couple of firsts made a lasting impression for the Hagerstown Suns.

Trevor Holder got his first win with five innings of five-hit pitching and Chris Rivera recorded his first save on Monday as the Suns scored a 2-0 victory over the Asheville Tourists.

The pair lifted the Suns after three pitchers -- Patrick McCoy, Hassan Pena and Drew Storen -- were all promoted to Single-A Potomac earlier in the day.

The Suns got both of their runs in the fourth with three singles and a little help from the Tourists.

Tyler Moore led off with a single against Asheville starter Dan Houston and took third when Steven Souza singled and advanced on right fielder Joe Massey's fielding error. Charlie Fermaint followed with a two-run single.

Holder struck out four in his start and Rivera threw two hitless innings with three strikeouts for the save.

Moore finished with three of the Suns' 11 hits, while Valerio Heredia, Souza and Fermaint finished with two each.
