Road work planned on North Burhans Boulevard

July 20, 2009

Work crews from Craig Paving Inc. will mill the existing pavement on North Burhans Boulevard between Park Lane and Pennsylvania Avenue as part of the city's annual Pavement Preservation Program.

The work will begin Wednesday at 7 a.m., weather permitting.

The City of Hagerstown provided the following information about the work.

Motorists approaching the work area might encounter workers, cones, barricades and other traffic-control devices. Temporary lane shifts will be used to direct traffic around the work zone. Delays are likely, and motorists are advised to use alternate routes around the work zone.

Emergency vehicles will be able to pass through the work zone; however, dispatchers should be aware that this work will likely cause traffic congestion and delays in the area.

The contractor anticipates the work will be completed by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Once the milling operation is complete, the contractor will return in the coming weeks to resurface the street.

As with all paving operations, rain or other adverse weather conditions might cause the work to be delayed or rescheduled.

Anyone with questions may contact the city's Department of Engineering and Code Administration at 301-739-8577, ext. 125.
