FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A 16-year-old boy faces adult charges in the violent escape of 14 juvenile offenders from the state-run Victor Cullen Center near Sabillasville in May.
Georges Duk Jr., of Montgomery County, had his trial set for late October during his appearance Monday in Frederick County Circuit Court.
He is charged with first-degree escape, second-degree assault, burglary, theft and malicious destruction of property stemming from the May 27 incident in which six staff members were hurt.
An investigation of the incident by a division of the state attorney general's office released Monday raises questions about whether the facility can handle some of the youths confined there.
