Conococheague 9-10 win state tourney opener

SALISBURY, Md. -- Isaac Schlotterbeck pitched a three-hitter with four strikeouts and had two hits on Saturday to lead Conococheague to a first-round victory over South Caroline in the Maryland State 9-10 Tournament.

Conochcheague plays Elkton in the winners' bracket today at 2 p.m.

"We stuck to our game plan," Conococheague manager Mick Byers. "We hit the ball and ran the bases well."

Conococheague played as the home team and took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. It added five runs in the second and closed out the game with a three-run third. The game ended after 3 1/2 innings by the mercy rule.

Robert Carr, Jake Arnone and Caden Kepplinger had two hits each.

PONY 13 Regional

Hagerstown 10, Butler (Pa.) 7

Chambersburg 9, Hagerstown 8

BOARDMAN, Ohio -- Chambersburg scored three runs in the sixth inning to come from behind to defeat Hagerstown and eliminate it from the regional tournament.

Hagerstown finished in fourth place.

Austin Stone hit a three-run homer, while Dylan Stouffer, Tyler Walling, Nick Sauble and Jack Kelly finished with two hits each.

In the first game, Hagerstown scored six runs in the first inning and held on to eliminate Butler.

John Britton pitched a complete game, allowing nine hits while striking out seven for the victory.

Zane Schreiber had three hits, while Ryan Byard, Brett Vitkun, Stouffer and Sauble finished with two hits each.

Maryland State 10-11 Tournament

Valley 14, Easton 4

SALISBURY, Md. -- Raymond Breland and Austin Jones combined for nine strikeouts to lead Valley over Easton in the Maryland State 10-11 Tournament at East Wicomico Little League.

Easton took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but Jones' two-run homer in the bottom of the frame gave Valley a 3-2 lead it never relinquished.

Tyler Olson and Jacob Moore each had two hits for Valley, which will play West Salisbury today at 5 p.m.

PONY 14 Sectional

Hagerstown B 15, Chambersburg Suburban 0

Troy Carbaugh threw a five-inning no-hitter with five strikeouts to lead Hagerstown B over Chambersburg Suburban, setting up a showdown with Hagerstown A today in the PONY 14 Sectional Tournament at Funkhouser Park.

Alex Courtney had four hits, including a pair of home runs, and drove in three runs, while Alijah Benson and Adam Mellott each had two hits for Hagerstown B. Benson also homered.

Hagerstown B will play Hagerstown A in the winners' bracket final today at 3 p.m. The loser will play again at 5 p.m. in the losers' bracket final.

The championship game will be played on Monday. The final two teams advance to the East Zone West Regional Tournament in Ohio.

Hagerstown B 9, Chambersburg American 8

Alex Courtney hit three solo home runs, had three RBIs and scored the winning run on a wild pitch to lead Hagerstown B.

Brendon Colliflower pitched three innings in relief and struck out three to earn the win.

Alijah Benson had two hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs, while Brandon Greene drew four walks.

Austin Scott led Chambersburg American with four hits, including a home run and two doubles, and drove in four runs. Andrew Shreiner had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs.

Hagerstown A 14, South Adams 1

Andrew Yacyk hit a three-run homer and Phillip Pietro added a home run to lead Hagerstown A.

Tyler Byers pitched three innings and struck out four to earn the victory. Matt Daley and Josh Grim two hits and two RBIs each.

Chambersburg American 23, South Adams 1
