Air Force Airman Melissa A. Crocker, daughter of Carole and Matthew Crisci of Boonsboro, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

She is a 2001 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

Navy Seaman Recruit Jesse A. Hale, brother of Deborah L. Collins of Brunswick, Md., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Hale is a 2008 graduate of Lompoc High School of Lompoc, Calif.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Marquita J. Polhill, daughter of Denise Polhill of Hagerstown and Lonnie Polhill of Lawrenceville, Ga., graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Polhill graduated in 2002 from Waynesboro (Pa.) Area High School and received an associate degree in 2005 from Hagerstown Community College.

Navy Seaman Recruit Patrick J. Leal, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Leal is a 2008 graduate of Brunswick (Md.) High School.

Scott Port has been promoted to the rank of sergeant major in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Port is an operations sergeant assigned to the Defense Attache Office in Berlin, Germany. He is scheduled for an assignment to the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C., to serve as an analyst. He has served in the military for 28 years.

He is the son of William E. Port of East Wareham, Mass., and Carolyn B. Warner of Linton, Ind.

His wife, Melanie, is the daughter of Harry D. and LouAnn Pugh of Winchester, Va.

He is a 1981 graduate of Southwest High School, Jacksonville, N.C. In 1987, he received an associate degree in justice administration from Hagerstown Community College, and in 2002 a bachelor's degree in political science from Excelsior College, Albany, N.Y.

Army Reserve Pvt. Cody J. Thomas, son of Richard Thomas of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and brother of Jason Green of Hagerstown, graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

Thomas is a 2001 graduate of Clear Spring High School.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Randy J. Saylor, son of Kelly D. Williams and Gerald Kunde, both of Myersville, Md., along with sailors and Marines from the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group (BATARG), Norfolk, Va., and 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (22nd MEU), Camp Lejeune, N. C., recently deployed as part of a regularly scheduled deployment to support Maritime Security Operations, provide crisis response capability, and increase theater security cooperation and forward Naval presence in the Fifth and Sixth Fleet areas of operation.

Saylor is a 2008 graduate of Laurel Highlands Senior High School of Uniontown, Pa., and joined the Navy in August 2008.

Navy Ensign Jeremy C. Runco, son of Susan T. and Jeffery C. Runco of Ranson, W.Va., recently graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis and was commissioned as an ensign.

Runco is a 2004 graduate of St. John's at Prospect Hall High School in Frederick, Md.

Navy Ensign Thomas M. Flanagan, son of W. Dale Flanagan of Charles Town, W.Va., recently graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis and was commissioned as an ensign.

Flanagan is a 2005 graduate of Jefferson High School of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.

Air Force Airman Edward W. Lewis, son of David and Jo Ann Lewis of E. Church St., Frederick, Md., graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Lewis is a 2002 graduate of Urbana (Md.) High School.

Army Reserve Pvt. Katie E. Eyler, daughter of Richard and Pamela Toms of Woodsboro, Md., graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
