Caitlin Kelch has been named a part-time graphic artist in the Digital Department of The Herald-Mail Co.

Kelch joined the company last year as a part-time Newspaper in Education coordinator in the Marketing Department, and also has been involved in various digital initiatives at The Herald-Mail, including work with HMTV, Facebook and others. A graduate of St. Maria Goretti High School in Hagerstown and The School of Visual Arts in New York City, she previously worked as both a director and senior producer for Bloomberg L.P. in New York. Her assignments included, among other things, directing "The Charlie Rose Show" and producing traditional and Web programming for various Bloomberg Television projects.

In Packaging and Distribution, Cory McKenrick, Chris Rinehart and Joe Maas have joined the company as part-time inserters.

McKenrick, a graduate of Williamsport High School, previously worked for Byers Stop-N-Go and L.L. Bean in Hagerstown. Rinehart is a student at South Hagerstown High School. Maas, a graduate of South Hagerstown High School and a student at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, W.Va., previously worked at the Four Points Sheraton and Food Lion in Hagerstown, among others.


Roxbury Correctional Institution

Donald Wolfensberger, a correctional officer sergeant on the 7-3 shift, has been named Employee of the Month for July at Roxbury Correctional Institution.

Wolfensberger was selected because of his exceptional job performance while planning, setting up and assisting during Family Day. He always displays the highest degree of professionalism, integrity and leadership for these and other events. Because of his leadership and effective team building, Family Day was, once again, a success.

Wolfensberger has been employed by the State of Maryland since 1993.

Graystone Mortgage

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Graystone Mortgage, a division of Graystone Bank, recently hired three new mortgage specialists.

o Madonna Beverlin previously was employed by Tower Bank. She has 31 years experience as a former bank branch manager and pricing and mortgage specialist. She is a graduate of the Maryland Banking School and Middletown (Md.) High School.

o Terry Barbuzanes of Greencastle previously was employed by Tower Bank. She has more than 20 years of banking experience and is a graduate of the Central Atlantic School of Banking and Pennsylvania School of Banking at Bucknell University. She currently is a board member with the American Heart Association for the Franklin-Fulton Division.

o Kelly Daugherty is a 1999 graduate of Shippensburg (Pa.) University with a bachelors of arts degree in business administration. Her previous work experience includes 14 years of branch management and loan officer status at Tower Bank. She has volunteered with the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.

U.S. Department of State

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Eric D. Johansen of Hagerstown, bureau human resources officer with the U.S. Department of State, recently earned certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR).

The PHR certification, awarded by the HR Certification Institute, signifies Johansen possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resource management necessary to pass a rigorous examination demonstrating a mastery of the body of knowledge in the field.

To become certified, an applicant must pass a comprehensive examination and demonstrate a strong background of professional human resource experience.

Johansen is a 1994 graduate of North Georgia College.
