Bus trip funding coming up short

The date is getting closer for the For Our Kids Sake bus trip set for Saturday, Aug. 8, at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown, Pa., and funds have been coming in a little slow so far.

The Progressive Men's Club will host a dance Saturday, July 25, at the VFW on Washington Street at 8 p.m. to help raise funds for the trip. The dance costs $10 per person.

For more information, call Kenny Keyes at 717-372-5798 to purchase a ticket and help send a child to the park.

The club will also hold a sidewalk barbecue to help with the cause. The time and date has not been determined.

In addition, an account has been set up at Hagerstown Trust Co. branches to make a donation for the youth trip. The account number is 141518.

Organizers are concerned that they might have to cancel one of the buses if they don't raise enough money.

Free movie planned at church

Washington Square United Methodist Church will show a free movie Thursday, July 23, at 6:30 p.m.

The movie is called "Time Changer," a science-fiction story about how decisions in the present might affect the future.

Light refreshments will be served after the movie. Free parking is available behind the church.

The church is at 538 Washington Ave. (parking lot entrance off Franklin Street).
