Pa. man charged with robbery and assault

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man has been charged with robbery and assault in connection with a July 8 break-in on Hackberry Drive in Chambersburg, Chambersburg Borough Police said.

Police allege that Michael Miller, 19, of 422 N. 2nd St., broke into a home on Hackberry Drive, and used his shirt to strangle a man and demand money.

The man allegedly gave an unknown amount of money to the robber, who fled the scene, police said.

Police eventually found Miller, charged him with robbery, simple assault and theft by unlawful taking, and placed him in Franklin County Jail, where he is awaiting preliminary arraignment.

The victim suffered minor injuries to his neck, police said.

Pa. police looking for runaway girls

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are looking for the public's help in finding two teenage runaway girls.


The girls are Nicole E. Gunnett, 15, and Silvina Rodriguez, 16, according to a press release.

Both girls left the Chambersburg area in a gray 2002 Chevrolet Astro minivan belonging to the Rodriguez family. They have not been seen since Sunday, police said.

Gunnett was last seen at her residence on Locust Lane in Hamilton Township in Chambersburg, police said.

Hagerstown woman hurt when car hits house

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - A Hagerstown woman lost control of a 1991 Honda Accord Monday afternoon on Mercersburg Road and struck a house at 3824 Mercersburg Road, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Candace A. Beane lost control of her car when she apparently tried to avoid hitting an animal crossing the road, state police said.

The car went through a yard before hitting the home about noon, police said.

No one in the home was hurt and Beane had minor injuries, police said.

5 cars involved in crash

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police responded to a five-car crash Tuesday afternoon on Pa. 316 at Orphanage Road, according to a press release.

Minor injuries were reported in the 4:19 p.m. crash, police said.
