Pen Mar Park

Pen Mar Park will host organist Jim Powers Sunday.

Powers not only participates as one of the entertainers at Pen Mar, but is the host for the summer concert series. He hosts the series with his wife, Fay Powers, who is a behind-the-scenes supporter and helps with the final steps of seeing that all goes well each week, including making sure that donations are collected each Sunday. The concerts are free, but donations are accepted. The concert is from 2 to 5 p.m.

Magnet workshop

A workshop on how to make glass magnets will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Smithsburg branch of Washington County Free Library.

Those ages 12 to 18 will learn how to take images found in old comic books or magazines, put them behind glass and turn them into magnets.

You can also paint the glass.

The library will provide all of the supplies.

The library is at 66 W. Water St. in Smithsburg.

To register for the workshop, call 301-824-7722.
