James Albert "Jim" Clinton Jr., 77

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. - James Albert "Jim" Clinton, 77, formerly of Hagerstown, passed away July 10, 2009, in Charleston, S.C.

Mr. Clinton was born to the late James Albert Clinton Sr. and Dorothy Lydia Clinton in Peterborough, N.H., on March 23, 1932.

Jim graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1951 and attended Gettysburg College.

Jim was a retired pilot, U.S. Army veteran and longtime member of the Quiet Birdmen and American Legion Post 42.

His 35-year professional aviation career began with Fairchild Aircraft and also included Grove Manufacturing, the Atomic Energy Commission and the Saudi Arabian royal family.

Jim left a lasting impression on everyone he came in contact with through his humor, storytelling and warmth.

He is survived by his daughters, Sarah Larrabee and Colleen Patridge; and grandchildren, Clinton Larrabee, Caroline Larrabee and Kyle Patridge.

He will be long remembered for his adventures, never forgotten for his friendship, and dearly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Mount Pleasant, S.C.

As Jim wished, family will receive guests in Hagerstown at the American Legion on Northern Avenue on Thursday, July 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. to share remembrances and toast his final flight West.
