Abraham Simon Klass, 85, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009, at NMS Healthcare of Hagerstown.

Born Wednesday, July 25, 1923, in the Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of the late David Klass and the late Lillian Estrim Klass.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Klass, in 1998.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of the Boonsboro American Legion and the Crier's Lodge.

He is survived by his son, Victor J. Klass and wife, Debra, of Hagerstown; one sister, Anita Tractman of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Joshua Klass and wife, Victoria, of Charlestown, Md., Seth Klass of Owings Mills, Md., and Corey Weitzel of Hagerstown; and one great-grandchild, Liam Klass of Charles Town, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence M. Klass; and a sister, Evelyn Sieden.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Mount Golda Cemetery, 500 Old Country Road, Huntington Station, N.Y., with Rabbi Milrod officiating.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
