What Do You Think?

July 13, 2009

Editor's note: Each week, The Herald-Mail invites readers of the Opinion page to answer a poll question on our Web site at www.herald-mail.com. Readers also may submit comments about the poll question when voting. Each Monday, a sampling of edited reader comments will run in The Herald-Mail.

The next Opinion poll question will run on Wednesday's Opinion page.

Last week's question was: Del. John P. Donoghue said last week a task force studying the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown is "a waste of time." Do you agree?

Here's what some of the voters had to say:

  • "The findings will be irrelevant because nothing can be done. The college was placed in downtown Hagerstown not for the good of the students or community, but for the good of downtown Hagerstown. The economy has taken a downturn, so many people are unable to afford college at this time."

  • "The current task force is comprised of politicians and academic administrators who prefer to maintain the status quo rather than find viable ways to increase revenue and/or reduce costs at USM-H."
