Ice cream social/book sale is Saturday at Blue Ridge Summit Free Library

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. -- The Blue Ridge Summit Free Library will hold its annual ice cream social and book sale Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the library and on the surrounding grounds. The event is being sponsored by PenMar Development Corp.

More than 1,000 books and used videos will be offered for sale. Food items for sale will include hot dogs, steamers, nachos, snacks, beverages, baked goods and funnel cakes. Ice cream will be provided by Antietam Dairy, which will donate a portion of sales to the library.

Musical entertainment will be as follows: The Wayne Band from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Sweet Adelines from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and Home Comfort from 2 to 3 p.m.

Blue Ridge K-9 will present a dog demonstration at 9:30 a.m. A free children's program, "Culler Magic" featuring entertainer Frank Culler, will be presented from 11 a.m. to noon on the outdoor stage. Face painting also will be available through the day.

Fountaindale Fire Co. will offer children free firetruck rides from noon to 2 p.m. Blue Ridge Fire & Rescue Squad will have an ambulance on display and will offer free blood pressure screenings on a limited schedule.

Free seated massages will be given courtesy of Synergy Therapeutic Massage Center and Training School. The Blue Ridge Summit Post Office will operate a satellite site on the library porch.

Parking is available next to the library off Monterey Lane.
