Two Martinsburg men charged after traffic stop

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. -- About 5 ounces of marijuana valued at about $2,175 was recovered after a West Virginia State Police trooper stopped a pickup on Hedgesville Road Sunday night after the driver was observed spinning his tires, police said.

The driver of the truck, Scott Lee Knipple, 44, of 843 Royal Crest Drive, Martinsburg, was charged with aggravated DUI second offense, reckless driving and driving revoked for DUI and the passenger, Jack Lee George, 51, of 926 N. High St., Martinsburg, was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana and permitting DUI, according to a press release.

West Virginia State Police Trooper W.M. Roden saw the driver spinning his tires at the intersection of Hedgesville Road and North Mary Street at about 10:22 p.m., according to the release.

After stopping the truck, Roden said he saw two people in the truck moving around and one of them tossed a bag under the vehicle, the release said.

Roden saw two beer bottles in plain view on the seat of the truck and found a large bag of suspected marijuana under the vehicle, the release said.
