Shank receives scholarship from Elizabethtown College

Taryn H Shank, a graduating senior at North Hagerstown High School, has been awarded the Presidential Scholarship, the highest merit-based scholarship offered, to attend Elizabethtown College as a mathematics major.

She has also been accepted into the honors program and will continue her cross country running as a member of the Division III Elizabethtown Blue Jays.

She is also a recipient of the Susquehannah Bank Strikeouts for Straight A's Scholarship Program and the Patrick D. Messina Scholarship in recognition of distinguished performance in scholarship, sportsmanship, athletic achievement and great dedication and loyalty to the NHHS cross country team.

She also received the Hagerstown Elks Teenager of the Year award.

Taryn is a member of the National Honor Society as a distinguished honor roll student who has received STARS in AP pre-calculus, AP English language, AP calculus and AP human geography.

She tutored as a member of the Calculus Club and received the NHHS Scholar-Athlete award as the senior female athlete with the highest overall grade-point average and for participating in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track throughout high school.

She also participated in women's ensemble, concert choir and show choir at North High.
