Marjorie Ann "Marge" Gossard, 66, of 18024 Pin Oak Road in Hagerstown, died Friday, July 10, 2009, at her home.

Born Oct. 18, 1942, in Hagerstown, Marge was the daughter of John Odell Swadley of Williamsport and the late Thelma Pauline Teets Swadley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Delany Gossard, in 1989; and one sister, Juanita Bryan.

She was a 1960 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.

Marge was employed by the Washington County Public Schools at North Hagerstown High School for more than 32 years, retiring in 2006.

Marge was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Clear Spring, where she served as the church secretary for more than 20 years.

She was a member of Hagerstown Lioness Club, Professional Business Women and Y-Me, all of Hagerstown.

Besides her father, she is survived by two daughters, Kris Pearl and her husband, J.D., of Boonsboro, and Linda Whittington and her husband, Michael, of Hagerstown; one grandson, Brycen Pearl of Boonsboro; special friend, Paul W. "Bud" Bailey and his family, Paula Bailey, John Bailey, Tammy Bailey, Scott Bailey and Kaitlin Bailey, all of Hagerstown; and faithful companion, Daisy.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Clear Spring, with the Rev. W. Allen Reed officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 13, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport, which will be open Monday after 1 p.m. for the convenience of family and friends.
