July 12, 2009

The Boonsboro High School class of 1948 celebrated its 61st reunion June 3 at the American Legion Home in Boonsboro.

Fifteen class members, along with their spouses and friends, enjoyed a buffet dinner and great fellowship.

Lucille Murray, reunion chairperson, gave an update on the class members who could not attend.

A memorial service was conducted for the 26 deceased class members. The names were read and a prayer was offered by Rev. Ralph Jamison, a class member.

The group also remembered Jean Keyser, a beloved teacher who died in 2008.

Class member Gerald Holmes gave an update on the Boonsboro High School Class of 1948 Memorial Award. The award was established in 1990 in memory of deceased class members.

Since the inception of the award, a senior from Boonsboro High School has been selected by the high school awards committee to receive an annual cash award. The 2009 award was presented to Jessica Kinna.

The reunion concluded with the awarding of door prizes. Maxine Palmer, a class member, donated the prizes.

Geraldine Crilly was recognized for donating the favors for each place setting.

Gerald Holmes thanked the reunion committee for their work and recognized Lucille Murray for her leadership and dedication, as the reunion chairperson.
