Pa. construction firm receives ABC award

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Brechbill & Helman Construction Co. received a National ABC Excellence in Construction Award for its work on the Katherine K. Hanley Family Shelter in Fairfax, Va.

The 16,931-square-foot facility, which provides a safe, temporary home for up to 20 families, is the first homeless shelter in the country to be recognized by the Green Building Initiative's Green Globes environmental assessment and rating system for commercial buildings.

The project was awarded One Green Globe, the first to be certified by GBI in the state of Virginia.

Associated Builders and Contractors, which consists of 25,000 member companies in the U.S., honored Brechbill & Helman in the Institutional Less Than $5 Million category.
