Religion: Speakers and topics

St. John's Episcopal Church, the Rev. Stephanie Yancy will lead Sunday's 8 and 10:15 a.m. communion services. Music will be provided by the summer choir at the later service. Sunday school resumes in the fall.

St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Pastor Quentin Fleming will speak Sunday at the 8:15 a.m. communion service and 10:30 a.m. worship service on "Truth and Consequences." Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m.

Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, Pastor Roland Hobbs is preacher and presider Sunday at the 8:30 a.m. worship in the sanctuary and praise worship at 9:45 a.m. in fellowship hall. Tyler Fairley is lay assisting minister. Sunday school resumes in the fall.

St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Smithsburg, the Rev. Mark Mooney will speak Sunday at 9:30 a.m. on "The Thorn Birds." A new puppet, Joe Cool, will be introduced. Sunday school is at 10:45 a.m.

First Christian Church, Phil Poffenberger will speak Sunday at 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. on "What About Grace?" Special music will be provided by Sue Thomas, Toby Smith and Dave Styer. Sunday school is at 11:15 a.m.

First Baptist Church, 15 High St., Hagerstown, Pastor Thom Smith will speak Sunday at 11 a.m. on "Start Loving." Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m.

Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren, 20402 Beaver Creek Road, a celebration worship of the community Vacation Bible school's theme, "Kingdom of the Son," will be Sunday at 10 a.m. Sunday school is at 9 a.m.

Trinity Episcopal Church, Chambersburg, Pa., preacher/celebrant Patrick Pierce will speak Sunday at 8 and 10 a.m. on "How Shall I Send Thee?" Adult study is at 9 a.m. Coffee and fellowship are at 11 a.m.

Valley Assembly of God Christian Life Center, 17544 York Road, Hagerstown, the topic Sunday at 10 a.m. is "Let Us." Bible Study is at 9 a.m. The 6 p.m. Sunday service features a missionary speaker. Wednesday's NuVision Youth topic at 7 p.m. is "Ladder of Virtues."

Calvary United Methodist Church, Martinsburg, W.Va., the Rev. Al Clipp will speak Sunday at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. on "Whose Grace Sees Us Through." Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

Grace Brethren Church, 250 Philadelphia Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., Pastor Darrel Taylor will speak Sunday at 10:40 a.m. on "The Treasured Truth of Psalm 46." Wednesday prayer, Bible study and Teen Club are at 7 p.m.

A Cry in the Wilderness Ministries, Family Sunday at Red Run Park Shelter No. 1 in Rouzerville, Pa., will begin at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Steve Burdette will speak on "It's All About Family." A picnic meal and games will follow.

Tri-State Fellowship, Peter Frey will speak Sunday at the 9:30 a.m. classic service on "The Uncommon Common Life: Relationships in the Family of Faith." Joe Daigneault will speak at the 11 a.m. bridge service on "The Church at Ephesus." The children's summer program is "Boomerang Express."

New Beginning Community Church, corner of Dual Highway and Beaver Creek Road, Pastor Mark Snyder will speak Sunday at 11 a.m. on "Whether It's Half Full or Half Empty, It's Still Half." Music will be provided by Mark and LeAnne Snyder. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. AWANA resumes in the fall. Wednesday Bible study at 7 p.m. is about "Who Killed Jesus."

St. Peter's (Beard's) Lutheran Church, Old Forge Road, the Rev. David Baker will speak Sunday at 9:15 a.m. on "God's Job Profile."

Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Dave Bartles will speak Sunday at 9:30 a.m. on "Is the Good News Good Enough?" Church school is at 10:45 a.m.

Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, Myersville, Md., Pastor Donna Ritchey Martin will speak Sunday at 10:30 a.m. on "God's Plumb Line." Music will be provided by Meghan Hughes. Summer Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.
