Trip to Baltimore

The Winter Street Alumni Association is planning a trip to Baltimore Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The group will visit the National Aquarium, have lunch at Phillips restaurant in the Inner Harbor, then travel to Fort McHenry.

The group meets at Always Ron's the second Tuesday of the month.

Scholarships awarded

Nicole Malott-Shelton, a student at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa., recently received two scholarships from AMVETS.

On May 26, the John Franklin Hutzell Memorial AMVETS Post 14 of Cascade held a scholarship awards ceremony at the Fort Ritchie Community Center in Cascade.

Post Commander Jacques W. Weedon Sr. presented a $500 scholarship to Nicole.

On June 13, a scholarship awards ceremony was held at the Hagerstown Hotel and Convention Center. Past AMVETS national District II Commander Philip L. Anderson presented a Department of Maryland AMVETS Scholarship award of $1,000 to Nicole.


She is majoring in equestrian studies.

West End Senior Citizens Club

The West End Senior Citizens Club will meet today at the Western Sizzlin' restaurant on York Road in Halfway at 11:30 a.m.
