GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Greencastle's newest officer, Rony, walks his beat with his handler, Officer Keith Russell, earlier this week.
The Greencastle Police Department welcomed Rony to the force this week. Rony, a 1-year-old German Shepherd, is the first police dog to serve in Greencastle. He was "hired" thanks to a donation from a local family.
Police Chief John Phillippy said the community has generously picked up the tab for most of Rony's expenses, including training, food and veterinary care.
