Joseph T. Pasquarello II earns Eagle Scout rank

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- Troop 287 in Greencastle, Pa., recently honored Joseph T. Pasquarello II with the highest award in Scouting -- the Eagle Scout at Hope Reformed Presbyterian Church in Shippensburg.

The opening ceremony was conducted by the members of Troop 287.

Scoutmaster Pete Berneir presented the Eagle badge and Joseph in turn presented his mother with a miniature Eagle pin and his father with an Eagle lapel pin.

Joseph is the son of Thomas J. Pasquarello and Crystal D. Pasquarello.

Joseph received a citation from Daniel Filer, volunteer coordinator commander of the U.S. Department of the Interior/National Park Service, C&O Canal Historical Park. Joseph received a Naval Special Warfare Command certificate from E. G. Winters, Rear Admiral, U.S. Navy, presented by Senior Chief David Rea, U.S. Navy, and a citation from State Sen. Richard Alloway II on behalf of the Pennsylvania State Senate.

Joseph started in Scouting as a Tiger Cub and completed all of the ranks. He joined Troop 287, Greencastle, and served in the following leadership positions: troop bugler, assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, senior patrol leader and presently is serving as a junior assistant scoutmaster.

Joseph's Eagle project was to recondition and restore the mileposts along 90 miles of the C&O Canal towpath between Cumberland, Md., and Williamsport. This involved several groups of scouts, church friends and family members on bicycles on several weekends led by Joseph, resulting in 250 hours of community service and improved safety for visitors to the C&O Canal Historical Park.
