Splash Bash



Martin E. "Marty" Snook Memorial Park in Halfway will hold its Splash Bash on Saturday, starting at 7 p.m.

The movie "Shark Tale" will be shown at sunset.

The movie will be shown on an inflatable big screen while participants swim in the pool. Admission costs $1, which will be collected at the pool. Admission includes the movie and pool access. The pool will open at 7 p.m.

Live music



The band Await the Rise will perform Friday, July 17, starting at 7 p.m. at the Hot Topic store at Valley Mall.

City Park concert



Music by the Lake, the summer concert series at Hagerstown's City Park, continues Saturday, July 18, starting at 7 p.m.

The concert series offers music of all types such as bluegrass, country rock and southern gospel. The concerts will run through Saturday, Aug. 15. On July 18, Hickory Ridge Blue Grass Band will perform in the band shell. For more information, contact 301-739-8577, ext. 183.

Library time at mall



Washington County Free Library will host story time adventures Thursdays, beginning July 16 at Valley Mall. The events will be held at the Macy's court wing from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The library will present books, poems, songs, finger plays and crafts covering many themes. The events will continue through Thursday, Aug. 13.

The themes planned are as follows: July 16 - "Bunches of Bugs;" July 23 - "Beary Tales;" July 30 - "Making Music;" Aug. 6 - "Fantastic Fish;" and Aug. 13 - "Kaleidoscope of Colors."

The events are free.
