MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Catherine Busey Clohan, 95, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at City Hospital.

Born Feb. 5, 1914, in Clearbrook, Va., she was the daughter of the late Dervward W. Busey and Cornelia F. Anderson Busey.

She was a graduate of Handley High School and Shepherd College, attended Duke University, and did her graduate work at West Virginia University.

She retired from the Berkeley County School System after 33 years of teaching.

Mrs. Clohan taught at Good Hope, Dry Run, Winchester Avenue, John Street, Opequon and Rosemont elementary schools.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Fidelis Class.


She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn C. and Paul Zwior, and Colleen and Mitchell Masker, all of Martinsburg; one son, Jack C. Clohan Jr., of Clarksburg, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Amy Kayes and husband Henry, Todd Masker and wife Lisa, and Jack "Trey" Clohan III; two great-grandchildren, Meredith and Caroline Kayes; and one sister, Mary Ada Thurston, of Bunker Hill, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Crouch Clohan Sr., and one sister, Mildred Patton.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 10, 2009 at 3 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, with Pastor Ed Taylor and Pastor Jeff McLeod officiating. Interment will be held at Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 315 W. King St., Martinsburg, WV 25401.
