Grasshoppers stomp Suns

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Jeremy Synan hit two home runs and drove in four as the Greensboro Grasshoppers beat the Hagerstown Suns 8-1 on Wednesday, ending the Suns' modest two-game winning streak.

The Suns scored their only run in the top of the third on consecutive singles by Steve Lombardozzi, Derek Norris and Tyler Moore.

Synan's first two-run homer highlighted a five-run third for Greensboro. His second two-run shot gave the Grasshoppers a 7-1 lead in the fifth.

Ben Lasater added an RBI double in the seventh for Greensboro.

Brad Peacock (2-8) took the loss for the Suns, giving up seven hits and seven earned runs in five innings.

Lombardozzi had two hits.
