Robert Earl McCammon, 82, of Hagerstown, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Oct. 12, 1926, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late T. Ray and Sarah E. McCammon.

He retired from Mack Trucks in 1988 and also Penn Dairy.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Joyce C. (Sprecher) McCammon, who died in 1997.

Robert is survived by a son, Darrell Robert McCammon, and a daughter, Kathy Sue, and husband, Harry "Bill" Carbaugh, all of Hagerstown; three brothers, Charles "Chip" McCammon of Waynesboro, Donald R. McCammon of Hagerstown and John H. McCammon of Boonsboro; three grandchildren, Kristie L. Carbaugh and Shane W. Carbaugh, both of Hagerstown, and Natasha L. McCammon of Waynesboro; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard McCammon, Frederick H. McCammon and George A. McCammon.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Shawn Bushman officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
