Free movies

Washington County Free Library will host two movies for its "Friday Night at the Library" this month.

The first one, "Hotel for Dogs," rated PG, will be shown Friday, and on July 24, "Tale of Despereaux," rated G, will be shown

The movies will start at dusk (8:30 to 8:45 p.m.) and will be shown in the side parking lot.

Free popcorn and refreshments are available while supplies last. Don't forget to bring lawn chairs. For more information, call 301-739-3250, ext. 132. There are no rain dates.

Master Gardeners clinic

The Master Gardeners plant clinic will be held at Washington County Free Library Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.


The clinic will be held on the front patio of the Central Library, 100 S. Potomac St.

Hagerstown Lions Club

Tuesday - Hagerstown Lions Secretary Chris Stockslager will talk about the 95th anniversary of the Hagerstown Municipal Band. of which he is a participating member.

Treasure Sale

The Singer Society of the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will hold its 10th annual Treasure Sale Saturday, Nov. 14.

Items are now being accepted for the sale. If you have "treasures" you no longer want - artworks, china, crystal, silver, furniture, rugs, games, costumes and jewelry - anything but clothing, appliances and books, bring them to the museum or phone 301-739-5727 for pickup service. All donations are tax-deductible.

The preview reception will be Friday, Nov. 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. Admission for the preview is $20 (price includes a $5 coupon off any purchase of $35 or more the day of the sale), a silent auction and music by Wally McClure.

Refreshments will be served.

The Treasure Sale will be Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
