Mosquito spraying scheduled

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- The Franklin County West Nile Program in consultation with the state Department of Environmental Protection's West Nile Program, has scheduled truck and ATV-mounted ultra low volume (ULV) mosquito control operations in portions of Washington Township and the Borough of Waynesboro for Monday night and Tuesday.

Residential areas will be sprayed for adult mosquitoes. The control work will begin after sundown.

High numbers of Culex mosquitoes, capable of transmitting the west nile virus, have been detected in these areas.

The ULV sprays will be conducted by Franklin County West Nile personnel. The product used will be Biomist 3 + 15 applied at a rate of .75 oz/ac. This product is designed to provide effective control of adult mosquitoes.

Other sprayings have been scheduled in portions of Guilford, St. Thomas, and Southhampton townships and the Borough of Chambersburg for Wednesday and Thursday. Residential areas will be sprayed for adult mosquitoes. The control work will begin after sundown.
