George Franklin Bryan, 80, of Hagerstown, Md., died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at his home.

Born Dec. 30, 1928, in Williamsport, Md., he was the son of the late Jacob "Runt" Bryan and Catherine Nave Bryan Mowbray.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Bradley; and stepfather, Homer Mowbray.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He retired from Pangborn Corp.

He attended Faith Christian Fellowship.

He was a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles 694.

He is survived by one sister, Mary Bradley of Falling Waters, W.Va.; one brother, William Bryan Sr. of Atlanta, Ga.; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.


He was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Shoemaker; and brother, Homer Mowbray.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor John Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
