Exhibit hall opens at museum

At 4 p.m. Tuesday, the Washington County Commissioners will officially cut the ribbon at the second exhibit hall at the Washington County Rural Heritage Museum, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike. The 7,200-square-foot structure will house all of the museum's large farm equipment.

Contemporary American Theater Festival

CATF kicks off its season Wednesday with pay-what-you-can previews. Festival contineus through Aug. 2 and features five new American plays. Kennedy Farm House open house

The 150th anniversary of the arrival of John Brown and his collaborators at the house from which they launched their attack on the federal armory. Battle of Funkstown

The battle of Funkstown is re-enacted Sunday. The street battle will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. on Baltimore Street and a battle in the woods is set for 2 p.m. in the city park. Fireworks at 9 p.m. All events free. Call 301-791-0948.
