The Hagerstown Branch of the American Association of University Women awarded scholarships to 17 Washington County students for the 2009-10 academic year.
The applicant pool was diverse in terms of ethnicity, age, educational career path, current/returning students and geographical residence. A record number of high-achieving students applied.
First-time AAUW scholarship recipients include:
o Scoti Dodson, a graduate of Boonsboro High, who is planning to attend the University of Maryland, College Park
o Emily Forrester, a graduate of South Hagerstown High School, who will attend Virginia Tech
o Deborah Green (nontraditional), who will attend Hood College
o Molly Haas, a Williamsport High School graduate, who will attend James Madison University
o Camille Heim, a Boonsboro High School graduate, who will attend West Virginia University
o Georgia Manning, a Hancock Middle-Senior High School graduate who will attend HCC
o Francine Annette Ngongang (nontraditional), who will attend Frostburg State University, University System of Maryland at Hagerstown
