July 05, 2009

HICKORY, N.C. -- Mike Bianucci highlighted a first-inning rally and set up one in the second as Hickory jumped out to a 7-0 lead before holding off the Hagerstown Suns 9-7 on Sunday.

Bianucci hit a three-run home run in the first and singled to load the bases in a four-run second.

Hagerstown starter Richardo Pecina lasted only 1 2/3 innings as the Suns fell to 1-10 in the second half.

The Suns tried to rally back, scoring five runs in the last two innings. Derek Norris led the way with two homers -- solo shots in the first and eighth innings -- to give him 17 for the season.

Norris had three hits, while Tyler Moore and Stephen Souza added two each.
