Children's Village of Washington County Inc.

Children's Village of Washington County Inc. has received a $2,500 fire prevention grant from FM Global, a leading property insurer of the world's largest businesses.

The money will be used for fire prevention activities that help educate the community. Each year, Children's Village provides free fire-prevention/safety information and skills training to second-grade students in Washington County.

Weis Markets

The Weis Markets store at 31 Eastern Blvd. in Hagerstown recently held a "Paws for Pets" campaign to help homeless animals.

The monthlong campaign was held in May and encouraged store shoppers to help the Humane Society of Washington County by purchasing items in the store and donating them to the shelter.


Brothers Premier Flooring

Brothers Premier Flooring has opened a showroom at 13502 Pennsylvania Ave. in Hagerstown.

The business, which began as a shop-at-home company, offers floor sanding and refinishing, and sales and installation of residential and commercial flooring in Washington County and in Franklin County, Pa.

Pools Patios & Porches

FREDERICK, Md. - Pools Patios & Porches recently acquired Bair Pools in Smithsburg.

The new owners will continue to offer Baquacil and Pool Life products, but also will support newer pool sanitizing systems such as FROG, Sustain and salt pools.

A recent addition to the Smithsburg store increases the offering of pool accessories, toys and games, and introduces pool and patio furniture. An assortment of swim products for aquatic fitness and competitive swimming also can be found at the new store.

Tower Bancorp Inc.

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Tower Bancorp Inc. in June joined the broad-market Russell 3000 Index, which measures the performance of the 3,000 largest U.S. companies based on total market capitalization.

Membership in the Russell 3000, which remains in place for one year, means automatic inclusion in the large-cap Russell 1000 Index or small-cap Russell 2000 Index as well as the appropriate growth and value style indexes.

Russell Indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors.
