Cat rescue attempts continue

July 03, 2009

Attempts to rescue a cat from a tree in the Hagerstown area continued Friday, but with no success. Lynda Dominick said members of the Funkstown Volunteer Fire Co. came to her home in the Brandywine complex near Hagerstown Community College, but they couldn't get the cat, which has been high up in a tree since at least Monday afternoon. She said the Humane Society of Washington County also was there Friday. In addition, a man showed up with a ladder, criticized residents and the apartment complex staff, and left, said Dominick, who wasn't home while some of this happened. She defended the staff, saying, "They're doing all they can." Dominick estimated the cat was about 75 to 80 feet up the tree Friday evening.
