Hagerstown TEA party

A TEA party will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, at University Plaza, West Washington Street, Hagerstown. The "Taxed Enough Already" event will include sending letters to elected officials.

A speech contest for students ages 14 to 22 will be included at the event. The top three will be selected to present their speeches to a panel of judges at the TEA party.

National Night Out

A National Night Out Celebration will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Hagerstown Fairgrounds. The free event is open to the public and is intended to heighten awareness about drug and crime prevention.

Vendors from various organizations will display their services. Activities include a face painter from "A Face in the Crowd," a sculpture balloon maker, jugglers and other activities. Free food will be available while supplies last.

Grants for energy audits

The REAP/Feasibility Grant Program provides grants for energy audits and renewable energy development assistance. It also provides funds to agricultural producers and rural small businesses to conduct feasibility study for a renewable energy system.

The program is designed to assist farmers, ranchers and rural small businesses. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis and can be up to 25 percent of total eligible project costs.
