Free movies



Washington County Free Library, at 100 S. Potomac St. in Hagerstown, will host Friday evening movies beginning July 10.

Movies will begin at dusk. Free popcorn will be available while supplies last. Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs. For more information, call 301-739-3250, ext. 132 or go to www.washcolibrary.org.

Live band



There will be live entertainment Friday at Valley Mall. Music will be performed by the band Bring Back All at 7 p.m. at Hot Topic.

Band series



The Hagerstown Municipal Band will perform Sunday as a part of the summer concert series at City Park. The band will perform at the Peter Buys band shell at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call 301-739-8577, ext. 169.

Washington County Public Schools will hold registration for prekindergarten and kindergarten for the 2009-10 school year Wednesday, July 8.

Thomas the Tank Engine



The Railroad Museum in Hagerstown's City Park will host Thomas the Tank Engine Day Saturday, July 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Nursery rhymes event



The Jonathan Hager House and Museum in City Park will hold Mother Goose Unplugged Thursday, July 16, beginning at 7 p.m.
