MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Alfreda Welch Folk, 91, of Swan Pond Farm, Martinsburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Willow Tree Manor.

Born Sept. 16, 1917, in Albright, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Earl Welch and Verna May Feather Welch.

She was a member of New Street United Methodist Church in Shepherdstown.

She was a member of the Opequon Radio Society, American Radio Relay League and Fairview Homemakers Club.

She is survived by a son, George W. Folk of Swan Pond Farm, Martinsburg; two daughters, Marjorie May Ridgeway of Martinsburg and Nancy Jean Foster of Shepherdstown; six grandchildren, George R., Kevin, Tim, and Mike Folk, Tammy Ware and Adrian Coburn; 13 great-grandchildren, Chuck, Tim, Emily, Jesica, Katie, Ashton, T.J., Carly, Brooke, Anice, Rebecca, Wesley and Sarah; two brothers, Charles D. Welch of Bryan, Texas, and Willis H. Welch of Terra Alta, W.Va.; two sisters, Gladys Allen of Waynesboro, Va., and Katherine Rose of Staunton, Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Robert L. and Marjorie Folk of Austin, Texas; and sister-in-law, Emma Welch of North Carolina.


She was preceded in death by her husband, George K. Folk; and brother, Paul Welch.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, with the Rev. Dee-Ann Dixon officiating. Private interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Thursday from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
