Eight receive Roe scholarships from Lions Club

The Hagerstown Lions Club recently presented $1,000 Massey H. Roe Youth Foundation Scholarships to eight local students.

The scholarship winners are:

o Lauren Metz, who graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 2008 and is attending St. Mary's College of Maryland

o Robert Mothershed, who graduated from North High in 2007 and attends the University of Maryland

o Elizabeth Sager, who graduated from North High in 2007 and attends the University of Maryland

o Eric Campbell, who graduated from North High in 2008 and attends the University of North Carolina

o Jalisa Jackson, who graduated from North High in 2007 and attends Towson University

o Brittany Smith, who graduated from South Hagerstown High School in 2005 and attends Oklahoma University

o Deanna Mackey, who graduated from North High in 2007 and attends Virginia Commonwealth University

o Krista Garner, who graduated from South High this month and plans to attend Mount St. Mary's University.

The youth scholarship program was founded and initially funded by Hagerstown Lions Club member Massey H. Roe.
