GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Mrs. Diane K. (McClure) Shaffer, 60, of 698 S. Washington St. in Greencastle, Pa., died Friday, June 26, 2009, at 4:28 a.m. at Waynesboro Hospital in Waynesboro, Pa.

Born May 24, 1949, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Merle and Glady (Bailey) McClure and the foster child of the late J. Raymond and Kathryn (Picking) Rotz. She spent her early life in Marion, Pa.

Mrs. Shaffer graduated from Chambersburg (Pa.) High School with the class of 1968.

She and her husband, Daryl Shaffer, were married June 30, 1968, in Greencastle. They lived at their current residence for the last 19 years.

Mrs. Shaffer was employed as a direct-care worker by Falling Spring Nursing Home in Chambersburg for 10 years and Western Maryland Hospital Center in Hagerstown for 16 years before retiring in 1998.

She was a member of Ebenezer United Brethren Church in Greencastle, where she assisted with Bible school, Child Evangelism Fellowship and Jesus Kids Klub for many years.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society of the Greencastle Senior Center, volunteered for the local Meals on Wheels program and enjoyed flower gardening.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one sister, Roberta Roberts of Chambersburg; two brothers, Dennis McClure of California and Paul McClure of Doylesburg, Pa.; one foster sister, Jane Helmuth of Marion, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; foster parents; one sister, Darlene (McClure) Kirpatrick; and one brother, Foster McClure.

Services will be Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Ebenezer United Brethren Church, Greencastle, with the Rev. James Mack and the Rev. Richard Mose officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Church Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home in Greencastle and Tuesday one hour before services at the church.
