Ralph Edward Snyder, 77, of Hagerstown, Md., went to be with his heavenly father on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Md., surrounded by his family.
Born Friday, Nov. 6, 1931, in Shippensburg, Pa., he was the son of the late John J. Snyder and Helen Viola Rudisill Snyder.
He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School, class of 1950.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.
Ralph was employed by Mack Trucks, retiring after 26 years of service.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 694, Sharpsburg American Legion and Red Men of Williamsport Tribe 84.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Carlene Elizabeth Lapole Snyder; one daughter, Sue E. Trigger and husband, Robert, of Greencastle, Pa.; two sons, Richard M. Sheffield and wife, JoAnn, of Hagerstown, and Randall A. Sheffield and wife, Tammy, of Mercersburg, Pa.; three brothers, Richard Snyder of Greencastle, and John Snyder and Harold Snyder, both of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
