FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Former baseball star Eric Guyton, a 1995 Williamsport High School graduate, will be one of five people inducted into the 14th class of the University of Mary Washington Athletic Hall of Fame in October.

Guyton, a 1999 Mary Washington graduate, starred on the diamond for the Eagles for four seasons before playing three seasons in the New York Mets organization. He still owns school records for single-season and career home runs.

In 1998, he batted .479, led the Eagles to their second straight NCAA tournament appearance and was named the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year.

Guyton lives with his wife and two sons in Lincoln, Neb., and works for State Farm Insurance as an auto underwriting section manager.
