Fireworks display set at Fort Ritchie

Mountain Top Heritage Days will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at Fort Ritchie in Cascade.

A car show is planned, along with live entertainment, children's games, a Civil War encampment, parade and crafts and food vendors.

A fireworks display is planned Saturday.

Sunny Sundays

The Jonathan Hager House and Museum in City Park will hold Sunny Sundays the last Sunday of each month during the summer.


Tours will be geared toward visitors with children and will be more interactive than regular tours. The children's tours will be given at 2, 3 and 4 p.m., starting Sunday.

Art exhibition

The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will host "Art: Your Future begins Here," starting Wednesday, July 1.

The museum will display works of art from museum instructors and students. Contact 301-739-5727 for days and hours.

Salute to Independence

The Maryland Symphony Orchestra will pay tribute to Independence Day Saturday, July 4, at Antietam National Battlefield.

Light classical and patriotic music is planned with cannon fire and a fireworks display to follow. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call 301-797-4000.

Fairgrounds Park to host celebration

A Fourth of July celebration is planned in Hagerstown Saturday, July 4, at Fairgrounds Park on Cleveland Avenue, just north of Dual Highway in Hagerstown. Entertainment will begin at 6 p.m., with fireworks at 9:30.

Fundraiser today for Josh and Katie

Barefoot Bernie's Bar and Grill and the Williamsport Blue Band Boosters will hold a fundraiser today to help raise money for Williamsport students Josh Forsythe and Katie Stains.

The restaurant is at 901 Dual Highway.

Mention you are there for the Josh and Katie fundraiser and Barefoot Bernie's will donate 10 percent of the food bill (minus taxes and alcohol) to their families.

Josh and Katie are battling cancer. Josh is member of the Blue Band. All money raised will be split equally between Josh and Katie to be used to help cover their mounting medical expenses.
