Recycling task force to receive award



The Boonsboro Recycling Task Force has been named the winner of the Outstanding Environmental and Community Leadership Award.

Robert Stumpff, public works director for the city of College Park, Md., will present the award Thursday at the annual Maryland Recycling Network Conference at the University of Maryland. Congratulations to all the Boonsboro task force members.

Class of 1970



The BHS class of 1970 has canceled the bonanza scheduled for Saturday. Ticket sales did not go well. Stay tuned for further information about reunion plans.

Barbecue planned



The Lions Club will hold its barbecue chicken sale Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. in the parking lot next to Hagerstown Trust. The event was postponed last Saturday due to rain.

Dance lessons



Thursday, July 2, is the last opportunity for swing dance lessons at Trinity Lutheran Church.

The four-week food, feet and fellowship activity will wind up with a New Orleans-style dinner, followed by swing dance lessons.

The lessons cost $10 per person. Participants need to RSVP for dinner.

The proceeds support nine teens and two adults participating in Jesus, Justice and Jazz, a national gathering and service learning mission for Lutheran teens.

Fourth of July



Boonsboro will once again host an Independence Day celebration Friday, July 3, in Shafer Park. The community event will include activities for children, food and a fireworks display. The action begins at 5 p.m. with the fireworks commencing at dark.
