Robber hits Martinsburg bank

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Martinsburg City Police are looking for a man who robbed the First United Bank & Trust at 980 Foxcroft Ave. in Martinsburg on Monday morning.

Officers responded to the bank at about 9 a.m., Detective Scott Doyle said in a news release.

The robber went into the bank, and presented a note demanding money, officers said. The robber left with an undisclosed amount of cash and made his getaway on foot, police said.

The robber was described as black, about 5 feet 6 or 5 feet 7 inches tall, in his early to mid-30s, Doyle said. The man had a slender build and was wearing a black shirt with a white shirt underneath, a baseball hat and sunglasses, he said.

The Martinsburg branch of the FBI also is investigating and the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department was assisting, police said.
