Covenant Presbyterian to install new pastor

The Rev. Renee Mackey will be installed as the new pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church at 4 p.m. June 28 in the sanctuary of the church at 11833 Green Hill Drive in Hagerstown.

Representatives of the Baltimore Presbytery and the Revs. Kyle Powderly and Mark Sandell will join with the congregation in the ceremony. A reception will follow.

Mackey has served churches in Colorado, Iowa and Maryland. Active in Kiwanis International, she has traveled extensively and spoken in churches in Scotland and Ghana.

She earned a master's degree in education from the University of Colorado and has worked as a teacher and media specialist in public schools.

She earned her master of divinity degree from Denver Seminary and her doctor of ministry degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Texas.

Describing herself as "a minister by profession, a teacher by training and a Christian by God's grace," Mackey has served in a variety of church and Kiwanis leadership positions.

The native Midwesterner said she is looking forward to hiking in the Hagerstown area and learning the history of the region.
