HANCOCK - Paul Elmore Bishop, age 78, of Hancock, Md., died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born June 25, 1930, in Washington County, Md., he was the son of the late Phillip Elmore and Iva May Weller Bishop.

He is survived by three daughters, Sharon L. Housewright, Jefferson City, Tenn., Paula J. Hart, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Sarah E. Steinbar, Frederick, Md.; one sister, Vivian R. Wandles, Warfordsburg, Pa.; three brothers, Lloyd P. Bishop and Jeffrey L. Bishop, both of Hancock, and Herbert H. Bishop, South Fork, Pa.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and may nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Paul Elmore Bishop was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jean Vanorsdale Bishop, who died March 22, 2009; and two sisters, Mildred J. Edwards and Doris A. Keefer.

Paul Elmore Bishop was of the Protestant faith and attended Price Memorial Wesleyan Church, Little Orleans, Md.

He attended Hancock High School and worked as a paver operator for R.F. Kline Paving and Craig Paving.

He was a member of AARP, Webester B. Harrison SAL and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1483.

The family of Paul Elmore Bishop will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 95 Union St., Berkeley Springs.

Services for Paul Elmore Bishop will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 95 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Darryl G. McClain will officiate. Interment will be private.
