EASTLAKE, Ohio -- The Lake County Captains scored three runs on four hits in the second inning, and pitchers Alexander Perez and T.J. McFarland made the runs stand up in a 3-1 victory over the Hagerstown Suns on Monday in the South Atlantic League.
Adam Abraham and Abner Abreu led off the second with doubles to give Lake County a 1-0 lead. Suns starter Brad Peacock's wild pitch moved Abreu to third, before Chris Nash walked. John Allman's single scored Abreu to make it 2-0, and Jose Carmargo's single scored Nash to make it 3-0.
Hagerstown scored its only run in the third. Robby Jacobsen hit a one-out single and scored on Nick Arata's double to left.
That was all the Captains' pitchers allowed. Perez improved to 5-2 by allowing just four hits and the one run in six innings while striking out eight. McFarland gave up a hit and a walk while striking out three for the three-inning save.
