Man wounded in home invasion

June 15, 2009

INWOOD, W.Va. -- An Inwood man was wounded early Monday in a home invasion, the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department said. Police are looking for two men in connection with the incident.

The wounded man was in recovery at Winchester (Va.) Hospital following surgery for nonlife-threatening injuries, Lt. Gary Harmison of the Sheriff's Department said.

The incident was reported at 3:08 a.m., Harmison said.

Two adults at 384 Patricks Court in Inwood were awakened when their front door was forced open, Harmison said. They encountered two men, believed to be white men dressed in black and wearing ski masks, in the living room.

When the male resident tried to close a bedroom door, a shot was fired through the door, striking him, Harmison said.
