PA Poison win tourney

The Greencastle-area PA Poison girls fast-pitch team competed in the Memorial Day Shootout tournament in Shippensburg, Pa. In the championship game against the Churchville Lightining, the Poison broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning. Shelby Smith hit a two-out double, Ashlynn Schaeffer lined a single and Miranda Pugh hit a two-run single for the victory.

Run For Freedom 5K

The Town of Williamsport's Run For Freedom 2009 5K will be held on July 4 at 8:30 a.m., with registration at 7:30 a.m., at Byron Memorial Park. The race will begin and end on Springfield Farm Lane and wind through Williamsport. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers and the winners of each age group. Gary Brown 5-Miler

The 28th annual Gary Brown Memorial C&O Canal Five Mile Run will be held Aug. 22 at 8 a.m., beginning and ending at Riverbottom Park in Williamsport. Entry fee is $25 before Aug. 12 and $30 after Aug. 12 and on race day. The race is limited to 200 entrants. All finishers will receive a T-shirt, with awards going to the top three male and female finishers, the top two male and female Masters and the top finishers in each age group. Hagerstown Rumble 3-on-3 basketball tournament

The Hagerstown Rumble 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be held on June 27-28 at Hagerstown Community College. Men's and women's 'A' and 'B' tournaments will be held on June 27, with junior tournaments in age groups including 9 and under, 10-12, 13-15 and 16-18 will be held June 28. Cost per team (four players max) is $100 before Saturday, $105 before June 24 or $110 after June 24. Suns autograph session postponed

The Hagerstown Suns' pregame team autograph session scheduled to take place prior to the June 17 game against Lakewood has been postponed. The Suns' 2009 team baseball card set has yet to arrive at the Suns' merchandise store, and the team will reschedule the event for a date following the arrival of those sets, which are expected soon.
