June 14, 2009

The Hagerstown High School class of 1939 celebrated its 70th anniversary reunion May 23 at the Airport Inn.

Chairman Dr. Richard Young called the meeting together and greeted the group.

Committee member John Hamburg gave the invocation before lunch was served.

From a graduating class of 313 students, a total of 26 graduates and family members totaling 53 attended the event.

Discussions of old memories were enjoyed by all.

Following lunch, Young again welcomed the group and asked committee member Richard Long to read the names of those classmates who died during the past year. A total of 14 former classmates' names were read to the group.

Following the memorial, Young conducted some class business and asked those present to tell some interesting stories about their lives.

John Hamburg then reminded the group of the past chairman, Mike Callas, and the wonderful way Young has taken over as chairman during the past five years.

Floral displays were arranged by committee member Alice Hessler and Virginia Leiter

Following the reunion, photos of the class were taken by Clayton Hayes.
